Digital Release: MC Axis Volume 9 (Summer 2008)
I bought a volume of MC Axis because of the MC part of the name: I thought to myself, “Could this be the successor to ye olde Magicu, oh my lord and King?”, to which myself replied “Verily I sayeth unto thee, my liege, knowledge shall not unveil itself unto our blessed presence, ‘slong as we lack the courage to verify our science.” Then the girl next to me told me to shut up. So I went and bought the magazine. MC Axis turns out to be a milmoe kind of publication: weapons, planes, tanks, etc coupled with girls. [Download: JPG 175MB]
I must admit my first impressions were not positive, so I debound it and set about doing scans to see what would happen. By the end of the process, I was a bit more forgiving, but I don’t think I will be buying another volume, unfortunately.
The problem was that I didn’t really like most of the illustrations. I mean, they were OK, but not many things actually leapt out at me. Still, I found around three artists I really liked because of this magazine, so I am pretty happy at the investment.
As you can see, it came with two pinup sheets (four pictures in total). The three artists I picked out?
Takaya-Ki (たかやKi)

Amano Yuu (天之 有)

Soukaa (そうかあ)
In particular, Soukaa is very proficient in weapon girls, and has the hand-drawn look which looks very good especially when playing around with milmoe stuff.
Check out the artists’ sites too: they have very outstanding galleries and other pictures there.
Technicalities:
Why is this release JPEG-only? Well, it’s not. There is a PNG version, which you can get here: [1] [2] [3]. It’s 1.83GB in all, in a three-part archive.
For obvious reasons, I recommend getting the JPG versions, which have average resolutions around 2478 x 3023 – big enough for most. They have also been additionally processed with a small degree of surface blurring which got rid of some artifacts left over from the processing. The PNGs have not been surface-blurred.

Though i’m particularly interested in mecha, armor and weapon bound girls, I do like the illustrations.
ps: Their gallery are pretty neat ^^
Mecha-musume’s pretty much one of the core reasons I’m watching Strike Witches, and having taken a peek at the pictures, will be a main reason for me getting this. Thanks!
Where can I find other magazines in this series
