The Watch: Comic Market 77 (Part 1)
As always, Comic Market information comes late (usually just days before the event), and so an artist watch must necessarily be late as well. That said, preorders on books for C77 starts a few weeks before, with a trickle of publications being announced on Melonbooks and Toranoana on a daily basis, and the diligent pursuer will find great reward in taking a constant approach to this challenge. In fact, a number of artists’ releases were revealed by stores long before they put up information themselves, but in the interests of easy compilation, I am choosing to go via artist pages only.
For C77, I am also dispensing with the stall number for the artists in most cases, as it is most likely readers will not be actually trying to find the artists physically.
As of writing of this post, I am finding a number of major artists still haven’t got their information up there (and I suspect Penzenichinyo is in the thralls of gaming and hasn’t done stuff for C77).
To organise the information mining efforts for these posts, I have divided my bookmarks into 15 folders of around 20 each. Artists who should have C77 releases, but have no information yet, have been relegated to the 15th sector. If, by the time I check that batch of bookmarks, no information is forthcoming, I will mention it in the last post.

Yukiwo will be presenting an eight-page rough illustration book, in addition to a set containing a new 18+ doujin called ブチキレ魅杏さん (no word on colour), a clear file based on the new doujin, two stick posters, and a cloth bag. Another new book, titled 少女クラブ (Shoujo Club), seems to have an Alice in Wonderland theme.
In addition, Yukiwo (circle Fukunoren) will be distributing a Beat Mania-themed collaborative goods set with AliceGarden and JOKER TYPE (Nishimata Aoi), containing Raspberry Heart, a 38 page book with some colour content, an A4 size colour clear file, and a paper bag.
I won’t cover this now, but Alice Garden has pretty nice art, though the C77 releases are nothing too special to speak of. Check it out if you like.

A small year for this artist. New book Lough+Rough is a rough illustration book, 18+ material. There is also a collaboration with D.N.A. Lab (Miyasu) to release a 2010 calendar with illustrations from various series.

It seems that Tokumi Yuiko has caught the Saki fever. Most books and goods are Saki themed.
Firstly, a 2010 calendar dedicated to Kana-chan.
Full-colour Bottle Fairy book, with illustrations and 4-komas.
A number of Saki doujins.
“Watashi, Shiawase desu”, a book on Hetalia’s Liechtenstein: sure to be very darn cute – Liechtenstein + Tokumi Yuiko combo = deathly.
Goods include paper bag, clear file, long poster, etc. Set price 4000 yen.

New book hitomatome is a 36 pager, colour status unknown. If the site is to be believed, there is a guest illustration from Chocolate Shop somewhere in there. Lycee Rough sketches is a 32 page rough illustration book with artwork from the TCGLycee cardgame.
Closet Child will be once again selling the Re: compilation book, HxHxH, and a number of other old publications.

Bakemonogatari is the name of the game here. It’s pretty nice seeing some solid Nadeko coverage this round of Comiket on the part of various circles, but of course most of the stuff is 18+.
Goods set is paper bag, 2010 calendar (looks nice), and My Little Girl, an 18+ doujin.
There is also a Bakemonogatari telephone card with backing board.

There has been quite a lot said about this already, but POP is continuing with the Kowarekake no ORGEL project, and the anime has been extended quite a bit, to 30 minutes. The main push for C77 is a doujin hardcover book of around 100 pages (72 colour, 24 monochrome), which comes with the DVD. Of course, it’s not solid POP works in the book, with more than 40 guest illustrators contributing toward filling the book.
Other stuff includes a paper bag, fake credit card, and some other stuff. POP has fingers in a lot of pies, so expect his work to pop up elsewhere as well.

As always, Pink Chuchu will release a lot of stuff for Comiket.

An 8 page sketch book called もえつぼ15 will be available on a first-come-first-served basis as a present for purchasers.
Mikeou will continue with the Sanarika works, but that’s on the 30th. It’s like a CD and a novel, but to be honest, I’m not too interested in that.
First Plus, a 28 page 18+ book. I think based on Love Plus.
Mousou Chuudoku 4, another 28 page 18+ book.
Game Collection Box is a summarisation of volumes 1 to 5 of the Game Collection series of books. 108 pages, but only 8 are full colour.
A telephone card set (shitajiki, telephone card, mounting board) of a witch with pantsu.
A pretty cute dakimakura cover.
The winder goods set is 2000 yen for a paper bag, clear file, paper, full-colour calendar (7 pages), and omake booklet of 12 pages.
The only thing I’d really consider buying would be the calendar and the dakimakura cover, if I were rich.

What with Ashioto coming out and stuff, Kantoku must have been quite busy. For C77, it’s just a goods set with one doujin (nature unknown), mini paper bag and clear file.
I’ve given up on this artist. First of all, he never releases anything substantial. Secondly, he’s gone to the dark side.

I’ll just mention that in Comitia90, Tokiame released Memoir, which I have secured a copy of. Also, Cage in Lunatic Runagate has been released in novel form, with some bonuses if you get them from Toranoana and Melonbooks.
C77 is Carefree Scribble Sou vol 5, a 20 page all-colour book, promising to be full of more Tokiame goodness.

Fujitsubo Machine (Itou Noizi)

I think the SHIRO-TSUBAKI Netbook project passed under the noses of many people, but it is basically a HP netbook with custom art by Itou Noizi (both on the hardware, and in terms of wallpaper and such). I think there are also custom OS sounds done by Mia Naruse.
Limitation of 25 units, order period has now passed. But I believe there was some arrangement to distribute a number more at C77. This is no longer the case, but there will be some kind of lottery system taking place between 29 December and 11 January to allow people the chance to get one of these netbooks.
Anyways, the theme this year is to commemorate FF13 and Macross F Theatrical. The item currently announced is a 2010 illustration collection calendar.

Hisuitei’s C77 releases are always something to behold, and this time round, it’s no different!
Big tapestry, measuring 60cm by 90cm, 2000 yen.
Goods set consisting of a 2010 desk calendar, a dual-colour kimono maid something (stick poster?), an A4 size twinkly clear file, and a paper bag.
New books include MOEPOP15, which could be full colour, and Law of Smile, an 18+ Sora no Otoshimono doujin.

This artist’s stuff is almost always 18+, and while the illustrations are pretty nice, I get somewhat thrown off by them.
Kyaramyu, a new book for C77. Full colour, 18+. A monochrome book which can only be bought as part of a goods set, Kyaramyu?R, an omake book, an A2 site poster calendar for 2010, a badge, and a cloth bag.

Sharing a stall with Private Garden, as well as a collaborative goods set, consisting of two clear files (Love Plus) and a paper bag.
For REI’s ROOM, MAGICISM-MONO- is a 76 page 18+ rough and line drawing collection. Omake for early birds is a clear file.
There is another new book, no information on that yet.
There is also another Love Plus goods set called Kanojo no Nukumori, consisting of sheets, dakimakura covers, cushio. covers, and L size T-shirts.
REI is another artist who does a lot of collaborations, so there is some other stuff like a Touhou monochrome 20 page book, and cushion covers.

Invalid Target is yet another publication with a great cover, but will probably be monochrome inside. This artist does story-driven manga rather than straight illustrations, usually.

D-myotic 6! A full colour 16 pager, featuring Hatsune Miku and Black Rock Shooter (and from what I can see, Princess Tutu and Touhou as well)!
Maybe the BRS is the reason for the starts in place of the usual dash in D-myotic. Also, leftover stock from Dmyotic 3.0. There is also a DS case.

A lot of pretty high resolution images being posted regularly on the Studio SDT site. This leads me to think TRASHBOX#20 will be collecting these (and more) in the standard rough-sketch book + CDROM format. The recent theme has been that of schoolgirls. And thighs.

The awesomeness of Ryo Ueda is not up for negotiation, and a powerful release for C77 isn’t going to hurt his reputation.
First up: fragments. A collection of previous works, full colour, EIGHTY-FOUR pagers, A4! Contents includes stuff from 2004 to 2008, I think, stuff from light novels, character designs, etc.
And of course, the 2010 calendar. After a splendid 2009 version, I’m clamouring for this new one already!
I haven’t been keeping up with this artist, who specialises in chibi-ised girls and very detailed futuristic cities, but here it is.
A 32 page, as yet untitled, full colour A4 sized book, a video DVD showing making-of for various artworks, a monochrome 36 page book, and an A2 poster of the above illustration.

VENOM seems to be celebrating 10th year anniversary (of participation in Comiket?) by distributing illustrated canned somethings, as well as two pieces of post cards. For the first 50 people, 10 randoms can win signatures.
The set includes a Love Plus theme paper bag, a clear holder of some sort, Mukirinko, an 18+ doujin, and OIOI FOUR and 1/2, another 18+ doujin.
For those like me who don’t like Love Plus, a series of six Touhou theme stick poster calendars. Also, a collaboration clear shitajiki, clear file, and bookmarks.

Quadruple is another DVD-ROM from ISW collecting the works from the previous three digital wallpaper collections, with the addition of a number of other wallpapers by 12 artists. Apparently, 135 wallpapers, in sizes up to 1920 by 1200 (BMP and JPG.

I’m so glad I went back through your preview before ordering my c77 goods, because I’d have completely missed the 84 pages of Ueda Ryou! I don’t own any of his doujins so this book will be a great opportunity for me to get some of his art in my collection.
