Figure Atto!
Some more elusive figure news, yay! First of all, this has been general knowledge for a week or so, but Griffon Enterprises is releasing Touhou figures! I thought ZUN was always reluctant to license his characters for “official” merchandise, but it looks like Griffon has done it. It is releasing Reimu, Marisa, Remilia, and Sakuya as standard figures. Read on for piccies and another piece of figure news (pic related).
Player 2 colour versions (of which I am tempted by Marisa and Remilia) are WF limited items. Additionally, Aya and Patchouli are also slated for release: so far only information on their WF limited 2P versions are out, with no word yet on standard versions. There are also two more figures for WF which are as yet unannounced.
The thing is, I’m not sure whether to bet on it now, or wait for more “quality” companies to release Touhou figures (I mean, are the floodgates opening?). I like how they look, sure, but I think their poses are a bit too static, especially for a 6800 yen price point. I want gimmicky things like bullets flying around, Marisa riding her broom with stars flying out, etc!
I am really looking forward to a good Alice figure too. Unlimited Dolls Works and all that.
Another piece of figure news is the awaited TINKLE dual figure (Shantiti & Ne-jyu).
I had thought it would be a magazine-order only item, but it turns out to be buyable by the public from the Etsu website! One simply fills in the form here, and the figure will arrive at your Japanese doorstep in September (expect one or two month delay).
Close to what I predicted, the figures are priced at 7800 yen each. Both come with a stand. Buying both figures and the stand as a set saves 600 yen, at 15,000 yen.

Worth it. Worth it.
I like the Player 2 Aya. Kinda unique.
Those Tinkle figures looks nice. Wonder who makes them for Etsu…
Figure quality is indeed often something one should worry about, many brands are not able to approach the same quality or finish in their mass produced ones compared to the always impeccable master/promo versions they show.
[...] & Ne-jyu” is a pair of figures released exclusively by Etsu Magazine. Previously covered here, the figures came out pretty much on schedule, though I held off on a shipment until last week. As [...]
